 A couple of weeks ago on July 4th I wished everyone in my family's email group 'Happy July 4th' and said simply that today is the 825th anniversary of the Battle of Hattin. This was the day that Saluhuddin Ayubi comprehensively defeated the crusader armies allowing Jerusalem to be recaptured shortly thereafter... (many people now know this date as in fact the date of american independence, which from a Muslim perspective, is considerably less relevant..)..

following a large positive reaction from my family, it got us thinking about the other important dates in islamic history.. and about making a list..
so with your permission, I have started to make a list. I would like to have 354/365 dates. Whatever the day is, be it today (July 17th), or December 25th, or any day one can think of, I would like people to know what happened on that day..of significance.. to Muslims
