 March is Women’s History month and Muslims are among the millions honoring their women’s historical legacy. As a matter of fact, Mother’s Day is celebrated on March 21st in the Muslim and Arabic worlds. Imam Zaid Shakir wrote in celebration of this occasion: “Women, like the flowers of spring, adorn our lives and have been chosen by Almighty God to deliver into the world the young souls whose presence marks the regeneration of our human family.” Notable Muslim women throughout history and in the contemporary world have contributed to civilization as scholars, legal jurists, rulers, benefactresses, warriors, businesswomen, poets, mystics, among endless positions.
